Sharon Hicks
Librarian, Teacher, and Mother in Chicago, Illinois
After many years in the retail and travel industries, I returned to college after raising two children, and graduated with honors with a B.S. in Education and later a M.S. in Library and Information Science. A former Chicago Public School teacher and librarian, and now a Children's librarian at Chicago Public Library, I am a lover of Children's and YA lit and the Chicago cultural and food scene. Though a Chicago native who has lived on both coasts, and I have returned to my Chicago roots. I love sharing myself as a generous and socially conscious librarian, educator and "Possiblitarian." When you can't find me in my West side library, l am walking or riding my bike or listening to music (probably jazz) somewhere around Chicago. One of my favorite quotes is "When I dare to be powerful - to use my strength in the service of my vision, then it becomes less and less important whether I am afraid." by poet Audre Lorde. I would find it nearly impossible to live without books, music, good food (and wine) and my bus card.
