Gold Coast, Australia
I am a business and technology enthusiast with a passion for driving innovation and entrepreneurship on the Gold Coast, Australia. I am a regular organiser of Startup events in the region and enjoy supporting and mentoring new startups through local Startup Incubator, Silicon Lakes.
I am the community manager for Opmantek, a multi award winning commercial open source company developing network management and IT audit software. Opmantek was recently voted the best systems management product in the American Business Awards.
I am also the Co-Founder of Startup Apprentice, a social enterprise dedicated to teaching entrepreneurial skills to High School Students and disengaged youth, our first 8 week afterschool program recieved much acclaim on the Gold Coast and is currently being rolled out nationally.
I started my first business, a digital imaging and printing service called Immediate Images, as a young mum at the age of 23. After a couple of stints in corporate roles in my late 20's and early 30's I realised that entrepreneurship was the only career path for me!
I hold a CAPM certification from the Project Management Institute and in recent years have worked primarily in the enterprise software development space.
About Me: I have an endless desire to create! I love to paint, sketch, sew, sculpt, cook, knit, garden and even tinker with electronics. I love to learn new things, languages, theories and technologies. I love walks on the beach in the summer, walks through the forest in Autumn and curling up in front of the fireplace with a good book and my lovely old cat in the Winter.
