Sharon Maas

Sharon Maas grew up in Guyana, South America, and was educated in England. She worked as a journalist in Guyana until, still in her teens, she left home to hike around South America for a year, wriggling herself out of numerous fixes.

Later, she travelled overland to India and lived in an Ashram for 18 months. In 1975 she settled in Germany and has been based there ever since, keeping alive her connections to Guyana and India through regular visits. She is married with two adult children, and writes every day in the wee hours before going to work as a social worker.
