Sharon M. Piper

Born in Toledo, Ohio, Dr. Sharon M. Piper spent the early years of her career there as well. Although she left Ohio after high school to earn a nursing diploma in Charleston, South Carolina, she returned to Toledo two years later to begin working at Riverside Hospital. Equipped with the education she had received at the Medical University of South Carolina/Trident Technical College, Dr. Sharon M. Piper then spent three years at Toledo Hospital working as an obstetrics nurse, during which time she realized she wanted to become an obstetrician herself. She enrolled at Toledo University and continued to work as a nurse for the next four years while she earned a Bachelor's degree in Biology.

Upon completing her undergraduate education with Cum Laude honors, Dr. Sharon M. Piper was accepted into medical school. She began her studies at the Medical College of Ohio in Toledo, and completed her doctoral degree at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia. Graduating with her MD, Dr. Piper also was honored with induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and earned the American Medical Women's Association Janet Glasgow Memorial Achievement Citation. Dr. Sharon M. Piper subsequently moved to Nashville, Tennessee, to fulfill her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. During her final year at Vanderbilt, Dr. Piper was named Chief Resident.

In Nashville, Dr. Sharon M. Piper is in the private practice, WOMEN Obstetrics and Gynecology, which she founded in 1991. To foster a comfortable atmosphere for patients, the medical office comprises only female practitioners. Dr. Piper is board certified in her field and a respected member of the Nashville medical community. She served as Vice Chairman of Baptist Hospital's OB/Gyn Department Executive Committee for four years and as Chairman for two years. She also chaired the hospital's Perinatal Committee for five years.
