Sharon Elaine Pegues holds a B.A. degree in journalism and mass communication from Howard University in Washington, DC. Her work first appeared in Essence Magazine in 1974. And she has been a writer for over 25 years for both public and private industry in the DC metropolitan area. She currently contributes to hubpages, webpage content for several small businesses, and has written for online publications such as visiblewomanonline.com magazine. And recently, Ms. Pegues started her own business – I Can Write It for You – Professional Writing and Consultant Services: resumes, business/technical writing, proposals, presentations, press releases, web content, brochures , manuals and more.
Ms. Pegues has a deep and abiding passion for affecting issues that impact affordable housing and homelessness. She has over 20 years of specialized professional experience in community development, housing policy analysis/program planning, and federal government project/contract management, specifically with the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and a number of national non-profit and quasi-government agencies that champion these issues.
Over the course of her career, Ms. Pegues has provided technical training, grants management oversight, program performance assurance, and technical assistance to HUD entitlements, states, and national housing/community development organizations. And as a contractor, she has written myriad policy recommendations, press releases and news articles for sundry HUD program office publications. Ms. Pegues volunteers at children's homeless facilities in the Washington, DC area to promote exercise and healthy eating habits for children in need.
