Sharvi Gautam

Hello I'm Sharvi Gautam and I am currently a student at Skyline High school. Aside from journalistic writing, I enjoy reading whether that is the news or a fiction novel, playing volleyball, and enjoying time with my friends and family. I believe that journalistic writing is important to society, and that is why it is important for me to write. I intend to continue writing about topics I care about for as long as I can.

My journalistic writing style tends to lean towards features and news. I focus writing on topics that are happening, which is typically news. As well as topics that I am passionate about which tend to be feature articles. Recently, I have enjoyed writing opinion pieces which I believe is my main style of writing.

My biggest takeaway from Journalism class is how to write actively. I used to struggle and wrote in a passive voice but throughout my articles, I have gotten more and more active in my writing. Also, learning how to write in an “inverted pyramid” style has been helpful. This is because, realistically people will get hooked on the lead and want to continue reading if it is interesting.
