Shashwat Samudra

Dedicated to helping people get well from what ails them, Shashwat Samudra holds abiding interests in the understanding of cultural diversity in experiencing health and sickness. He is also keenly interested in the application of the principles of primary healthcare to the practice of nursing. Employed as an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Nursing of the Mount Royal University, Shashwat Samudra is a native of India who now calls Calgary home.
As a nursing classroom instructor, Shashwat Samudra conducts courses that include: Research for Practice in Health and Community Studies; Seniors' Health; Professional Practice I: Clinical; Adult Health; Therapeutics I: Tutorial; Health Promotion with Individuals I: Lab; and Alterations in Health: Nursing Knowledge.
Shashwat Samudra obtained Registered Nurse training at the Foothills School of Nursing. He had worked as an Internal Medicine nurse at the Foothills Medical Center for several years. Shashwat attended the University of Calgary, where he completed a Master of Nursing degree in 2004.
At Mount Royal, Shashwat Samudra focuses on studying the processes by which ESL nursing students acquire proficiency in the English language. He also has academic interests in Philosophical hermeneutics as a research practice in nursing as well as Interprofessional practices in healthcare delivery. To ensure that his students can be well-equipped with state-of-the-art nursing education, Shashwat Samudra imparts knowledge to them through the effective integration of PowerPoint with blackboard discussions.
Aside from working in community and hospital settings, Shashwat Samudra has worked in smaller communities in the Northwest Territories.
Initially, Shashwat Samudra was accepted at Mount Royal University in 2006 as a sessional instructor at the Undergraduate Nursing Department. After becoming full time in 2007, he was tenured in 2008. Shashwat became Associate Professor in 2010.
Shashwat Samudra has been a member of the Developmental Disabilities Resource Center in Calgary since 2011. He has done volunteer work for the Calgary Center of Hope, the Alberta Public Health Association, and the Calgary Homeless Foundation.
