Shaun Paul Digan is a PhD Candidate in Entrepreneurship at the University of Louisville, USA. Prior to attending the University of Louisville, he earned a Bachelor’s of Science, Summa Cum Laude, from Liberty University in Business: Management and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Cincinnati.
Shaun’s interest in entrepreneurship, management, and leadership stretch back to his youth, strengthened by values and skills cultivated through early entrepreneurial endeavors and active participation and leadership positions held in the Boy Scouts of America. His professional career includes extensive experience in start-ups and small businesses, specifically franchise operations. From 2008 to 2012 he served as the Franchise General Manager of a national tax preparation franchise, opening and managing three franchise locations as a steward for an absentee investor. His life experiences in start-ups, entrepreneurship, and leadership are invaluable resources to draw upon in order to contribute insights to the entrepreneurship research literatures.
Shaun’s research interests draw heavily from his life experiences, and focus around opportunity development, recognition, and emergence of entrepreneurial ventures. Specifically, he is drawn to the processes of opportunity emergence and subsequent entrepreneurial strategy to found and develop new and young ventures. His dissertation research will focus on the explorative vs. exploitative nature of entrepreneurial strategy, its antecedents, and implications on entrepreneurial outcomes.
