Shauna Rider
Photographer in Oregon
Hello world! Let me introduce myself, my name is Shauna, Shauna Dawn to my small town family and friends. I was raised in Pendleton Oregon. A small country town right on the edge of the world, or home to the Pendleton Woolen Mills for those less familiar. What a great place to be raised… though back then, as many raised in a small town do, I was chomping at the bit to get out of there and explore what the world had to offer! I was set on chasing the shooting stars, I roamed around exploring (nowhere exciting or foreign but new to me just the same) and realized I missed my roots and ended up back in Oregon. Oh how I missed the delicious water and beautiful people of the Beaver State- this time around I get to enjoy these little blessing with my handsome husband and son who came kicking and screaming from the Puget Sound. Now of course they consider themselves Oregonians and find themselves quite at home during this adventure.
I still remember in 7th grade writing that “I was going to be a photographer for NatGeo and see the world”. I had never been so sure of anything in my life! I spent hours looking through NatGeo magazines admiring the life and work of those published. Life began, kids came, and plans changed. I decided that it was time to “get a real job” soon after and put aside the idea of photography. That was until I turned 25- something about turning a quarter century screamed to me… “WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH YOUR GIFT?” Almost overnight, I relit my passion for telling stories through imagery and decided I would use my life to create beautiful things the best way I knew how… behind the lens. Passion was one thing and knowledge was another so I enrolled in college and conquering my dream!
My portfolio is small, my skills are still developing but my passion is strong! I love connecting with people and capture their feelings and life in a photo. I want to capture the truth and beauty in life… the sadness, the happy, the pain, the human journey.
Whether I'm in studio or capturing Gods art in in real world moments, I am always excited for the challenge and adventure in an image.
I love waking up everyday and being able to answer back “yes!” to photography needs. I can do it, I love doing it, and if I haven’t done it before I will try until I figure it out and just maybe we can learn something together!
Please contact me with any questions, comments, challenges or stories, Id love to hear from you!
With respect and love,Shauna Dawn
