I spent over 30 years working as a technical writer and freelance journalist. Today, I am an author of fiction and history books.

Coming soon, a biography about the Thousands Islands legend, Bill Johnston. I signed a publishing agreement in early May. To get a taste of its content, visit www.piratebilljohnston.com.

In 2012 and 2013, The History Press (now Arcadia) published two history books I wrote about an little known 1838 border war: "The Patriot War Along the New York-Canada Border" and "The Patriot War Along the Michigan Canada-Border."

I also authored and self-published two historical novels in paperback and e-book format. The first, "Counter Currents," won the 2013 silver medal for Historical Literature Fiction awarded by Dan Poynter's Global Ebook Awards. The sequel, "Dark Southern Sun," takes place in Australia. All are available through Amazon.

I am currently working on a contemporary fiction novel.

I also write two blogs on specific aspects of Canadian and US border history.

I live on a 125-acre hobby farm with my artist wife, Amelia Ah You.
