Shawn Lin has been working towards a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering & Management at the National Chiao Tung University (NCTU) since 2008. He had worked as an information technology professional at an US-based semiconductor equipment firm in Hsinchu from 2004 until 2013.

His current research interests include social network analysis and cloud computing network architectures that utilize multi-agent approaches. Technologies that are of interest to him include: industrial automation, enterprise resource planning systems, systems engineering, Java programming (Java SE & Java EE), cloud-based application development in Python, computer networks, wireless networks, software-defined networkng (SDN), and smart grids.

Previously, he had received a Master of Engineering in Industrial Engineering & Engineering Management from the National Tsing Hua University (NTHU), Taiwan, in 2007. Previously, he received an Honours Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto, Canada, for the completion of the Computer Science Specialist and Economics Major programs in 2003. He has been studying towards a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering & Management at the National Chiao Tung University (NCTU), Taiwan, since 2009. Non-degree minor and certificate programs that he is currently enrolled in at NCTU include: Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), Taiwan Law, and U.S. Law.
