An industry expert in the field of sustainable investment strategies, Shawn Severson recently launched Water Tower Research, an equity research and investor intelligence firm that aims to provide companies with smart, accessible market research. Shawn Severson also founded alphaDIRECT Advisors, which digitally distributes equity research, particularly in the area of climate tech and sustainable investing.
A cum laude graduate of Augustana College, Mr. Severson holds a bachelor of arts in economics. As part of his studies, he attended a one-year foreign study program in economics and international finance at the University of Karlstad in Sweden. Early in his career, he spent eight years as senior vice president of equity research with Raymond James, where he was twice ranked by Starmine as a top three stock picker in the Electronic Equipment & Instrumentation category. In the early 2000s, The Wall Street Journal ranked him as a “Best on the Street” stock picker for three consecutive years. He later held the position of director of equity research with both JMP Securities and Think Equity LLC.
