Shawn Gatlin is a Project Manager and Marketing/Communication Professional.
He is currently the principal consultant of SZG Consulting, servicing in entertainment, health/wellness, education, and more.
Shawn's talent for communications and project management developed in 2011 as an Assistant Sponsorship Activation Manager for ESSENCE Communications (Time, Inc.) As a member of the ESSENCE Festival, he has supported integrated marketing strategies and experiential branded activation for sponsors such as Coca-Cola, McDonald's, State Farm, Ford, and Verizon resulting in a $280M economic impact for New Orleans, 2019.
In addition to ESSENCE Festival, Shawn supported the Steve Harvey team as Talent Production Assistant for Neighborhood Awards hosted in Atlanta, Georgia. Here, he coordinated talent interviews, guest spots, and travel logistics.
Notable film work includes projects with My So-Called Life productions on the CW television series The Originals, an extension of film work Shawn started with the company for New Orleans, Louisiana. Shawn has appeared in films Get On Up, 22 Jump Street, Focus, Blackbird as well as television promotions for WWE Wrestler Adam Rose and COX Media Louisiana.
Aside from live events and entertainment production, Gatlin has done marketing and brand work for MLB teams Atlanta Braves and New York Mets. As an Account Director, Shawn led grassroots campaigns across Georgia and New York.
Shawn has also partnered with government entities such as Let America Vote, End Citizens United, and Planned Parenthood Southeast for community uplift and policy advancement.
Previously, Shawn served as Assistant Public Relations Director for City of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, where he prepared local media correspondence and partnerships, planned and executed citywide events, hosted special projects under Mayor Johnny L. DuPree, and managed City of Hattiesburg social media.
Shawn continues community involvement with his Atlanta-based sports and recreation organization, Movers and Pacers where he serves as Vice-President.
Shawn holds a bachelor's degree in Mass Communication and Journalism from the University of Southern Mississippi.
