Shaylin P. Chock

With two current places of employment and one training program in progress, Dr. Shaylin P. Chock is a board-certified psychiatrist in Los Angeles, California. Dr. Shaylin P. Chock works as a Psychiatric Emergency Room Physician at the University of California at Los Angeles Medical Center, and she is also a Psychiatric Weekend Attending Physician at Gateways Hospital and Mental Health Center. Along with these two professional roles, Dr. Shaylin P. Chock is enrolled in the University of Southern California Institute of Psychiatry, Law and Behavioral Science doing a fellowship in Forensic Psychiatry. Additionally, after graduating with her Doctor of Medicine she also completed the three-year UCLA-San Fernando Valley Psychiatry Training program and was the Chief Resident in the two-year Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Training Program at the Los Angeles County and University of Southern California (LAC + USC) Healthcare Network.

Over the last decade, Dr. Chock has participated in several research projects and been granted numerous awards for her work. She most recently gave a presentation titled Taser Use in Mental Health for the LAC + USC Child and Psychiatry Grand Rounds series in March 2010. Dr. Shaylin P. Chock has presented lectures on the psychiatric hold, the neurobiology of methamphetamine, and play behavior in the Rodrigues Fruit Bat species. Some of the honors received by Dr. Chock include the Nadine Alexander Kahanamoku Scholarship and The Native Hawaiian Leadership Project Scholarship. Both of these are merit- and community service-based grants.

Dr. Shaylin P. Chock has remained active in several community service efforts. Some of these endeavors include her time at the Shriners Hospital for Children, where she served as a Recreation Therapy Volunteer. She volunteered at the Legacy Emanuel Medical Center, where Dr. Chock shadowed some of the physicians in the pediatric emergency care unit.
