Shayne Betreen

Since making the transition from Retail Management to Mortgage Broking as a 30 year old new entrant from the Southern Highlands of NSW in 2010, Shayne’s story is a positively uplifting one and an inspiration to others new to the Mortgage & Finance Industry.

When Shayne first joined the Alphabroker Mentor Programme back in 2010, he was one of their first Sydney Mentees. He was new, the Mentor Programme was less than 12 months old but he took a leap of faith and embarked on an amazing.

Shayne came to the Mortgage & Finance Industry unshackled by tradition and institutionalised thinking. He had a clear vision and unwavering belief that he would succeed in a way that very few others would be able to emulate. He quickly identified gaps and opportunities that had long gone unnoticed or ignored.

Right from the start, he approached the industry with an entrepreneurial mindset, his ambitions were BIG and his vision, his beliefs rarely faltered.

But it was not an easy road and in his first 6 months didn’t settle one loan. He had to weather the financial pressures, acute stresses and some pretty tough personal upheavals that commonly beset many start-up business owners. But he didn’t let them distract or defeat him. He KNEW that if he doggedly persisted, that in time, it would pay off in spades.

And so it has…

Today Gain Financial (Gain) is a boutique Aggregator quietly recruiting young, innovative, entrepreneurial and like-minded new Brokers. Gain has a vibrant, collaborative, creative culture which enables both its Members and its Clients to “do” business differently. Their technology, systems, performance measurement tools, apps, intranet sites, community connection media, forums, their sense of innovation, authenticity and general team engagement is inspired, designed and humbly led by Gain’s Founder.

Late 2013 Therese O'Neill from Alphabroker Mentoring & Coaching was honoured to be able to award Shayne his MFAA Certified Mentor Certificate and early 2014 he welcomes his first 8 Mentees, including five young AFL Players from his local Footy Club (he relocated to Melbourne in 2012).
