Shazna Nessa
Director, Journalism at Knight Foundation in Miami, Florida
The Foundation is a leading supporter of journalism in the digital age. I actively source projects, develop strategies and manage a multimillion-dollar portfolio of ideas selected to accelerate new learning and a healthier news ecosystem. I have deep insights into the state of the industry and I am a sought-after expert and public speaker. I collaborate and seek ways to engage with an extensive network of journalists, technologists, designers, educators and entrepreneurs to share skills and insights.
I was previously Deputy Managing Editor of Editorial Products & Innovation at the Associated Press in New York, where I created AP's first social media, mobile, interactive, digital production and data journalism teams.
I have consulted extensively and taught design, data and interactive journalism at both Columbia and CUNY in New York.
