Shea Baldwin

I'm a senior at theUniversity of North Texas (Graduate Fall 2015) and a Sport'sJournalist Major, Social Science Minor. I have grown as a writer as I've passed through the Mayborn School of Journalism at UNT. I have enjoyed writing since I was young and have always had a passion and skill for it. I believe it's my calling, I am interested in mostlysports journalism and my strengths are writing news articles onsports, any sport. I feel comfortable doing many different types ofwriting also including hard news, soft news, profiles and otherdifferent formats of writing. I also am skilled in social media and stay frequently active on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat and LinkedIn. I'm very familiar with Sport's Apps, Wordpress, Soundslides, Audacity, Photo Mechanic and Adobe Software.

To be straight to the point, I'm an older student (28 years old), who has overcame much adversity and hurdles in life that have made me a stronger person and writer. I have worked many hard-labor jobs, supporting myself whileattending school full-time which ultimately has given me strongattributes that helped build character and keep me humble. I have astrong work ethic, I'm punctual, responsible and accountable inanything I do. I have a hunger and drive that pushes me to want tobe the best!

I wrote for my highschool paper and my college paper (NT Daily), which has given my helpful experience as well as being efficient and skillful in social media. I have worked for five-star, fine-dining restaurants and served many high-profile individuals, officiated high-school and college basketball for over ten years, ball-boyed for the Dallas Mavericks and kept stats and play-by-play for the Texas Legends. I also write/wrote for the Dallas Cowboys in a paid internship of the 2015 season. I am published online on multiple websites including theMonitorNews.com, page2sports.com, and footballalley.com. I am very worldly, personable, professional, and definitively known to be a “people person.”

My dream is to soonbe writing for a major newspaper as a sports columnist/writer and toofficiate college basketball, maybe one day the NBA. I have thedrive and confidence to keep trying relentlessly until I reach mygoal.
