An air pressurized water (APW) fire extinguisher is designed to combat Class A fires, which involve common combustibles like wood, paper, and cloth. It uses water as the extinguishing agent, and the water is propelled by compressed air stored in the extinguisher. APWs are highly effective in cooling the burning material, reducing heat, and preventing re-ignition. However, they should not be used on electrical fires or fires involving flammable liquids, as water can conduct electricity and spread flammable substances.
