Sheila Bernus Dowd

Silicon Valley

Seasoned executive with strong track-record of success in start-up organizations and developing talent to achieve unprecedented results. I am a doer and self-starter, who is quick to learn from mistakes to find the right solution. I am a builder, who consistently shatters goals and brings people together. I excel at developing platforms for connecting communities via online and live events.

I spent this past year traveling around the world on a family sabbatical - visiting 19 countries, 52 cities and 35 airports. How is that for executing a vision with some major project management skills? Currently, I lead International Social Media at GoDaddy, where we are supporting small business owners in over 22 countries.

Over the last 20 years, Sheila's led dozens of high-performance teams and raised over $10M in operating capital for social venture start-ups. While Executive Director of Public Allies (holding the same position as Michelle Obama), Sheila ran the Silicon Valley office, developing a new platform to train the next generation of non-profit leaders, and creating a national tech plan for 10 sites. Sheila was responsible for long-term strategic planning at Project Cornerstone, where she formed partnerships to engage Silicon Valley's businesses, elected officials, schools, and residents to expand youth development programs impacting over 450,000 children. As co-founder of the Left Coast Live music festival and conference, Sheila has been directly responsible for securing sponsors and hiring the emerging artists who showcase the best of the West Coast, revitalizing San Jose's music scene.

Sheila is a sought-after and inspirational speaker especially among the digital and blogging community, and has spoken about blog monetization and SEO on over a dozen panels. Sheila served on the Yahoo! Mother Board, is the co-founder Lookiloos.com (a nationally syndicated home and garden site), and frequently trains local non-profits on social media applications.
