Sheila McCormick
Consultant in Attleboro, Massachusetts
I have worked as a free lance journalist writing primarily for New England Horse Talk and the Massachusetts South Coast paper, The Freebird Times. Besides a number of interview and essay pieces, I self-published a novel, Cousin Andrew, in 2002, and have previously published poetry in the Cambridge, MA based literary magazine, Ploughshares.
Other novels are waiting in the wings, including a romantic comedy with links to the Tarot called The King of Rods, a modern parable of love and loss entitled Actaeon, and a trilogy called Vaquera that re-imagines in an historical context the popular Hispanic legend of Zorro, told through the eyes of the woman who loves him.
I’m a graduate of Massachusetts College of Art, have studied writing with author, Rose Moss, attended seminars at the Green Mountain Writer’s Conference, belong to the Cape Cod Writer’s Center, and was an MBA candidate at Simmons College.
I’ve done public readings from my works at my local library and local bookstores. Since much of my writing is full of horse lore and equine characters, it’s fitting to say that I'm also a longtime horsewoman. I keep two horses, my diva American Paint Horse mare, Reba, and my humbler Appaloosa mare, Jamae. To support that luxury I work as a technical solutions architect for EMC Corporation in Massachusetts where I have also written articles for a company internet newsletter.
