The trill of hitting your shot and winning the game can lead to countless hours of fun in any sport. However, unlike any conventional sport, the first thing that comes to my mind when thinking of these things is bowling. Although bowling is not the most popular sport, it peaks my interest as it is popular in my family. As early as I can remember, I have loved the game. My dad used to play with his friends after work, and I still remember some of the stories he told. He once scored a 279, nearly a perfect score; all he missed was one pin. My dad even used bowling to teach me lessons. “Always keep your aim steady, but only after you find the right target,” he would say. It took me years to realize that he was not only talking about bowling. My dad’s love for the game rubbed off on me. While I wasn’t the perfectionist he was at the game, I loved to play it. I would always head to the local bowling alley with my friends and use bowling as a medium to hang out and enjoy myself. I like to connect with my friends and talk to those I care about. I feel like this is a very interactive, leisurely sport where everyone can talk openly with each other and still have a little friendly competition. My passion for meeting new people through the sport is one of the reasons I decided to take a bowling course last semester. Although the course load was what you would expect it to be, my time spent learning new mechanics and meeting new people who also love the sport was well worth it.
