Des Moines, Iowa

My name is Shelby Brink and I am Senior at Drake University student majoring in Broadcast News and Sociology. I am from a small town in Northeast Iowa, Waukon. I graduated from Waukon High School in 2011. In high school I participated in Volleyball, Basketball, Softball, Bowling, and FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America).

After high school I went off to college and where I currently attend Drake. I came into Drake as an undecided journalism major. I thought I wanted to write sports stories for a newspaper. But soon after being at Drake I knew that wasn’t what I wanted to do anymore. I took my first video production class, and I knew I wanted to be a TV journalist. Fall semester of 2012 I hosted a one-hour radio show on our college station 94.1 The Dog.

Sports have always been a passion of mine. I have been involved with them my entire life. NASCAR has always been a passion of mine. I am hoping to gain a career within the NASCAR industry.

Last semester I was in an upper division video production class, I produced many news packages. I have gained a lot of experience in the field through this. I am also involved with the Drake Relays Telecast that will airs each year on the college channel in Des Moines, IA. I have a few packages that I put together for the Telecast.

I have compiled a portfolio on my personal website shelbylynette.com

This past summer I had an internship with Cumulus Media Des Moines. I recorded, edited, and produced radio sports for five different radio stations. 97.3 NASH FM, 92.5 KJJY, 98.3 WOW FM, 95 KGGO, and 1700 The Champ.
