Sheldon Inwentash, B.COMM., CPA, CA., LL.D. (HON) is founder, chairman and chief executive officer at ThreeD Capital Inc. (CSE:IDK / OTCQB:IDKFF), a publicly traded, Toronto-based venture capital firm that primarily invests in disruptive technology startups and junior resource opportunities with an emphasis on precious metals, and provides ongoing counsel to help them reach their full potential and profitability.

A longtime entrepreneur and investor with more than 30 years of successful small capital investing experience, Sheldon founded ThreeD Capital to provide investors with significant exposure to ground-floor opportunities involving early-stage, promising companies. Today, the firm’s ever-growing portfolio includes companies in a diverse range of verticals, including e-sports, renewable technology, blockchain, artificial intelligence, nanotechnology, and precious metals.

ThreeD Capital is the most recent entrepreneurial endeavor undertaken by Sheldon. Previously, he founded and spent 20 years as CEO of Pinetree Capital Ltd., an investment, financial advisory and merchant banking firm. ThreeD Capital takes the Pinetree model further and builds upon its role in helping new companies launch, thrive and experience revenue growth.

Sheldon’s professional background includes founding five companies; co-founding Visible Genetics, one of the first commercial pharmacogenomics companies; and serving as CEO at nine different companies. He has been instrumental in providing financing for hundreds of public and private start-up companies that, with his investments, have reached a fair value of $800 million.

Known for creating significant shareholder value through early investments, his accomplishments while at Pinetree include supporting the launch of Queenston Mining, which was acquired by Osisko Mining Corp. for $550 million; Aurelian Resources, which was acquired by Kinross for $1.2 billion; and Gold Eagle Mines, which was acquired by Goldcorp for $1.5 billion.

Sheldon obtained his B.Comm from the University of Toronto and is a Chartered Professional Accountant. In 2007, he was awarded an honorary degree of Doctor of Laws from the university in recognition of his leadership as both an entrepreneur and philanthropist, and for his dedication to youth. That same year he was named an Ontario finalist for the Ernst & Young entrepreneur-of-the-year award in 2007.
