I have recently created my own social enterprise (non-profit making company 'Holistic Heart and Soul Healing' , which incorporates my 'Solace of Souls' Palliative Care Mentoring Services. This is stll in it's very early stages but I am really passionate about this as I feel that all human beings are entitled to live and die with peace and dignity. My aim is to make knowledge, autonomy and empowerment possible for anyone and also advocate personal choice to improve life and death everywhere!

I have had over 15 years experience supporting bereaved families and people at the end stage of life, both as a nurse / health care assistant in hospitals, Social Care roles and in a pastoral (spiritual) capacity.

I have lost a number of close family and friends over the years, most recently in the last 2 years. At this time, although this was a family member, I felt extremely privileged to be able to support her, her husband and adult children through the last few months of her life and in the months following. Prior to that, I experienced a great deal of loss and emotional pain in my personal life which although devastating, has served to mould me into the person I am today.

The more that I have been able to offer compassion, care and a space for people to feel more comfortable with death and dying, grieve and heal, the more strongly I feel my service is really valuable but sadly not so common in the UK (it is very popular, however, in other countries around the world!). My aims are to change that!

I have over twenty years experience within the social care, education and nursing fields, as well as several years in secretarial/PA roles, which have given me excellent communication skills, both written and oral. I started off in nursing after leaving college and have also been involved in youth, education and support work in residential and non-residential settings, working with people who have experienced many issues in their lives such as mental health, learning disabilities, domestic violence, family breakdown, drugs and alcohol and offending issues.

I have a number of professional qualifications (see below) and I am currently studying for a Integrative Counselling Therapies Degree (almost completed Year 2 out of 3!).
