Sheriff Carlos Turner

I am proud to be leading the Surry County Sheriff’s Office as we continue our commitment to professional service in what I believe is one of the best Law Enforcement Agency in the area. As Sheriff, my philosophy has been that we are the guardians of a safe Surry County for our citizens and visitors to enjoy. To that end, there are three specific areas that will always serve as cornerstones to the success of us all.

•We will strive to be the best trained and equipped in our industry to meet the challenges that we confront daily.

•We will provide a broad spectrum of law enforcement services through creativity and innovation, while maintaining the basic principles of community policing that will identify us as the area leaders in our approach to community policing.

•We will maintain a level of professionalism daily that builds the public trust and allows us to impact lives for a better tomorrow.

Surry County Sheriff’s Office is and will indefinitely be the agency that others look to for guidance. In moving the culture of law enforcement forward I know that the Sheriff is responsible for setting the tone of the agency. That is why I have pledged dedication to promoting education and community involvement to every member of our agency. Through increasing awareness of community needs and planned outreach efforts, The Sheriff’s Office will work everyday to bridge the gap that has historically kept law enforcement on the tail end of social issues. Working together, we can do better!
