Sherif is a seasoned VP at a leading financial institution in the UAE with more than three decades of diversified experience across Shari’ah Audit, Internal Audit, Islamic Banking, Digital Banking, Governance, Risk Management, Business Transformation, and technology-driven assurance.
Throughout his career, he has led and transformed Shari’ah audit functions across multiple countries, combining deep expertise in Islamic finance with a strong passion for innovation, AI, and digital enablement. He has successfully completed the 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 initiative by Dubai Future Foundation, reinforcing his expertise in Prompt Engineering and the practical application of Generative AI. His experience covers Shari’ah governance, consumer banking, digital channels, operational transformation, data analytics, and risk-based assurance methodologies.
Sherif has developed more than 1,300 AI prompts tailored to various stages of the Shari’ah audit lifecycle, including audit planning, risk assessment, fieldwork, testing, issue identification, reporting, governance reviews, root cause analysis, and follow-up activities. He actively explores how artificial intelligence can enhance audit quality, improve efficiency, strengthen professional judgment, and support smarter decision-making within Islamic financial institutions.
Sherif also has strong expertise in digital transformation, digital marketing governance, and technology risk management, with hands-on exposure to digital ecosystems, automation platforms, analytics solutions, and emerging technologies supporting modern business operations.
As a UAE Internal Audit Ambassador, Sherif actively contributes to advancing the internal audit profession through advocacy, thought leadership, and community engagement. This role reflects his commitment to strengthening governance practices, promoting professional excellence, and supporting the development of the next generation of internal auditors across the UAE.
