Sherman Williams
President, Non-Profit Organization and Public Speaker in Prichard, Alabama
I was born and raised in Prichard, Alabama, I am best known as an All American football player. I am a three time football champion. I experienced my first championship while attending Mattie T. Blount High School. I was the first running back in the state of Alabama to rush for over 3,000 yards in one season.
My football career continued at the University of Alabama, playing for the renowned Crimson Tide. There I developed my signature touchdown celebration, the ‘Sherman Shake,’ and led the Crimson Tide in rushing yards and broken carries. I also earned All SEC and second team All American honors and was a member of the University's 1992 Championship team.
In 1995, the National Football League’s Dallas Cowboys drafted me in the second round as a number one pick. During my rookie season, the Dallas Cowboys won the Super Bowl XXX championship.
Unfortunately, a series of poor decisions resulted in a 15 year federal prison sentence. Since my release in 2014, I am focusing on improving the lives of others by sharing my story and acting as a role model and mentor for young people and student athletes.
I am the author of Crimson Cowboy, where I chronicle my life from early years to being recruited by the University of Alabama’s Crimson Tide, as well as the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys.
I also created a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization, The Palmer Williams Group. My partner is former NFL player and University of Alabama team mate, David Palmer, and we provide youth development programs to assist and guide disadvantaged youth to overcome interpersonal obstacles, embrace family values, encourage education, and avoid life’s pitfalls.
