These matters may involve disputes with US Customs on valuation or classification issues, the imposition of liquidated damages or penalties, and audits. Ms. Singer also counsels importers in best methods of avoiding import problems, including determining classifications, rates of duty and proper values of imported products before goods arrive in the United States.

Ms. Singer works with importers of a wide range of products, including wearing apparel, foods, drugs and devices, electronics and jewelry. Importers of each product category have issues that require specialized understanding of their industry and knowledge of the intricate set of rules and regulations governing the products.
