Sheyenne Manning

Sheyenne Manning

Sheyenne Manning, multimedia journalism and management, is in her last semester at Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa. Her years as a journalism student have provided her with the expertise about how to research, report and deliver a quality news story. During her years at Simpson, Sheyenne has reported and written news stories for college newspaper, the Simpsonian, and made local contacts by selling advertising space in the newspaper. Indianola is the county seat of Warren County, which provides a wealth of opportunities to make contacts at the courthouse.

Though her major is in journalism, she plans to pursue a year-long service opportunity in Sacramento, California with a national non-profit organization. She has plans to sustain the Warren County website while in California. This will be made possible by making and staying in contact with key service members in the county. At this time, there are no plans to expand the business to Sacramento.

Sheyenne has also completed a job shadow and an internship experience. Her job shadow at Community Youth Concepts connected her with many contacts in the non-profit community, where volunteers are greatly needed and utilized. Her current internship at the Iowa Coalition Against Sexual Assault started as a volunteer opportunity. At IowaCASA, she’s in charge of communications and public relations, which has given her the skills to speak professionally on behalf of a service organization.
