Dale Shimasaki, CEO of Strategic Education Services (SES), is passionate about making the most of his resources and taking the “extra step” toward success.

As the head of a consulting and lobby firm specializing in California education issues, Dale oversees an aspect of the company that sets it apart from its competitors: their research and data analysis. Typically lobbyists do not perform their own data analysis, but Dale uses it as another opportunity to inspire real change in an industry that is notoriously difficult to sway.

With over thirty years of experience, Dale and his firm represent school districts, colleges, and education organizations who deserve improved administrative policies and increased government funding. They’ve worked with school districts as large as Los Angeles and San Francisco Unified, and as small as Delano Joint Union High located in Delano, California.

His degrees in economics and public policy from the University of California, Berkeley, give him the background in finance and government he needs to assist students who need reformed education policy the most. Dale received his doctorate in education administration from the University of California, Berkeley, as well.

In addition to his work at SES, Dale Shimasaki has taught at the University of California at Berkeley, San Francisco State University and City College of San Francisco. He also advised state- and federal-level budget committees and advocates for the improved representation of racial and ethnic groups in the United States, particularly in his current role at the Asian and Pacific Islander Legislative Caucus.

Dale Shimasaki was also a crucial member in the founding of Asian and Pacific Americans in Higher Education (APAHE) at the University of California, Berkeley. As the founding member and president for five years, Dale pioneered a series of change against the discriminatory admission policy directed towards Asian Pacific American applicants at the University. APAHE will be celebrating its 30th year in 2017.

Dale's specialties include: Analysis of the state budget/legislation and its impact on local education agencies, community colleges, and diverse student populations; advocacy on behalf of clients; policy; legislative relations; po
