Shirley Hayes is one of the first woman in South Africa to have qualified for a blasting certificate. She has extensive experience of surface mining and blasting having run her own quarrying business for several years.

She identified the northern cape region as a major copper exploration area. She has invested her own capital to develop the Concordia tenament covering 36 000 hectares of the most prospective copper targets in the area.

Currently she is in the process of developing two major copper mines in the area in addition to having discovered a copper ore-body similar in size to the historical Carolusberg orebody where some 411,435 tons of copper (26Mt @ 1,54% Cu) was mined.

She has a clear vision for the area and is planning to develop it in to one of the largest copper producing districts in the world.
