Shiu-Ren Chao

Omaha, Nebraska, United States

Greeting from Shiu-Ren,

I am currently a female graduate student who grew up from a single parent family in Taiwan and study in the Management Information Systems (MIS) program at University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO). Since 2011, I have begun my study focusing on both Bachelor and Master of Science in MIS degrees (graduated in the December, 2013 and expected graduation day in the December 2015)

Since I have begun my study in the Information Technology with Business Administration fields, I have discovered that I am interest in designing and analyzing things. Also, I like to manage database and improve its efficiency.

I have had hands-on experience on analyzing a business and creating modeling for its system. Then I selected exactly data based on the needs to make impacts by sequel statements. In addition, I created users and tables and analyzed each table size. Last but not the least, each table stored into well-organized tablespaces to achieve the efficiency.

Besides, I have created stored procedures in Microsoft SQL Server Management Systems. For more hands-on experience, I export and import data by creating dynamic Excel files in SQL Server Integrated Service.

In addition, I have been putting what I have learned in the classroom into community services. For example, I taught computer skills to the inmates in the Douglas County Department of Corrections in Omaha for four months in the Spring Semester of 2012, and I gave a talk to students who took ISQA 4140 Computer Basics in January 2013.

As a result of my strong academic performance and comprehensive social abilities, I have awarded the positions of Recruitment Volunteer Coordinator in the Maverick Diversity Coalition at the Student Organization & Leadership Program and Diplomat in the College of Information Science & Technology. I have also awarded CLASS Scholarship from Criss Library at UNO and IS&T Ambassador Scholarship.

Based on my experience and knowledge, I am looking for an entry-level position to enhance my database skills and get hands-on experience for building my career in the IT department that I am willing to learn everything. It has been my strong desire to apply my skills and knowledge to community services so that I can not only enhance my abilities in Information Technology but also contribute my talents to the society.

Thank you for your time to learn About.Me. I look forward t
