Hello! My name is Shiva! Welcome to my home page.
I have a passion for many things, but most of all, I love making things that help people, while spending the rest of my time volunteering, being a hobbyist, and doing whatever I can to help others learn how to find and embrace their own passions.
I am currently a Staff Software Engineer at Google, during which time I have been working on bringing the best of Fitbit experiences to Google products. Prior to joining Google, I worked at Fitbit for almost 5 years as a firmware developer on all Fitbit smartwatches, serving as lead firmware developer on the Fitbit Sense, Versa 3, and Versa Lite Edition. By training, my expertise lies in sensors, algorithms, real-time operating systems, and systems-level engineering at the lowest level of embedded devices. I enjoy being a generalist and exploring all over the stack, and have gained experience in various disciplines like backend services, web frontends, and development infrastructure over the years. I have also been developing my skills in people management since 2022 with team sizes ranging from 2 to 5.
I'm a graduate of Cornell University's School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, where I got my Bachelor of Science and Master of Engineering degrees with a focus on My specialties are firmware/embedded development and biological applications of electrical and computer engineering.
Computers have been my passion since I was six years old, and I have spent most of my life learning more about all facets of computer hardware and software.
I am a passionate volunteer, working in my spare time with local libraries, nonprofits, and museums (such as SF Exploratorium and the USS Hornet) to help create and run events/programming and develop interactive exhibits.
