Shontavia Johnson

Shontavia Johnson serves the world as an entrepreneurship and intellectual property expert. She was recently named one of "42 under 40" by the Jackie Robinson Foundation and was also selected as one of 40 Lawyers Under 40 by the National Bar Association and Impact. Her passion is helping new and wannabe entrepreneurs create businesses that help them lead wealthy and fulfilling lives. She founded the Freedom and Business Academy™, which provides premier business development programs for entrepreneurs, and created Jackson Johnson LLC, an innovative, online law firm for new businesses. Shontavia also serves as a law professor at Drake University Law School, where she teaches budding lawyers the basics of intellectual property law and entertainment law. Through her non-profit organization, the Each One International Foundation, a portion of the profits from her businesses fund scholarships for students interested in law, entrepreneurship or STEM careers.

Shontavia has spoken across the country and internationally on issues related to entrepreneurship and intellectual property. She has appeared on ABC, CBS and NBC affiliates, and she was profiled in the book What it Takes: How Women of Color Can Thrive Within the Practice of Law. Shontavia has also been featured in popular outlets like Loop21.com, The Iowan Magazine, and the National Black Pre-Law Magazine.

Shontavia grew up in South Carolina but currently lives in Des Moines, Iowa with her husband and three year old daughter. Shontavia enjoys reading, spending time with her family and adventure sports. She has bungee jumped from the highest commercial bungee facility on the planet and recently went skydiving over the Iowa cornfields.
