ession musician, Christian Tobiah Shorter inevitably developed a passion for singing, song-writing and instrumental experimentation. As a child member of his local church choir, the Poughkeepsie native was heavily influenced by gospel music and hymns. That was until the sonic plethora of the 1980s mesmerized him. “I remember listening to Billy Joel, Prince, David Bowie, Sade… Their music blew my mind. It made me want to make great music.”

Throughout his teens and well into college, Christian continued to make impressive strides with the ukulele, guitar, banjo, piano and computer production software. After an injury and illness halted his college basketball career, Christian relocated to California in 2000 to pursue a full-time career in music.

Upon his arrival to Los Angeles, Christian began focusing on music production and song-writing -penning and producing for the former Atlantic recording artist, Hope.

His musical versatility, owed in part to his incorporation of both natural instruments and computer software, has landed him work with such artists as Trevor Horn, Meshell N’Degeocello, Kelis, Raekwon, Iggy Azalea, Goapele, Seal, Keyshia Cole, Kara DioGuardi and Berry Man, among others.

When asked about the significance and function of music in his life, the multi-instrumentalist, photographer, and vegan chef had this to say: “Music is the ultimate gift of creativity; being able to compose something and know that it exists forever in the minds of listeners, to me is one of the most awesome responsibilities.”
