Amateur Radio Operator and Shortwave Listener in Uniontown, PA

I'm Aaron. I live in Uniontown, Pennsylvania with my XYL and three children—all of whom enjoy the radio.

I've been a fan of shortwave radio since I was a teenager, starting as an SWL (shortwave listener) listening to many of the broadcast greats before they went off the air. I still enjoy browsing the bands both broadcast and amateur.

I finally decided to get my amateur license a few years ago, and now have a small general-license HAM radio station, KD9BSL. I enjoy the HF bands using 100W. I rent, so have a portable setup for the back yard. Perhaps I can piece together something amenable to my landlord and more permanent! I'm learning about digital modes, compromise antennas, and not breaking the family budget. My current major project is learning CW (Morse Code) as I would love to have something truly portable I can take to one of our beautiful, local parks.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Aaron
