Dr. Shubha Dhage

Hi I'm Shubha, a breast surgical oncologist.

I'm on a mission to support women through healing. I want to do this not just through surgery, but by championing their voice and how they approach every aspect of their life: food, mindset, confidence, passion, movement, and natural surroundings.

Until July 2021, I was the chief of breast surgery and director for the Breast Health Program at NYU Perlmutter Cancer Center-Long Island.

I also have experience in:

• Caring and advocating for young women with breast cancer through my research, my practice and as a member of the Center for Diseases Control (CDC) Young Women with Breast Cancer Advisory Committee and the Young Survival Coalition
• Adapting breast services for the disadvantaged, as a former Co-Director of the Breast clinic at Bellevue Hospital in NYC, which serves patients from across the NY area and 40+ countries around the world
• Global health research, in Kenya, Ghana and India, where with a grant from NYU I conducted in-person focus groups and qualitative research on women’s perception of health in micro-finance groups and medical missions
• Cancer genomics, as a researcher under Dr. Robert Schneider, in which I sought to understand the tumor microenvironment and surgical markers through cancer genomics.
• Medical education, mentoring and leadership development, as co-founder of the Women's Leadership Program and director of the American College of Surgeons YFA National Mentoring Program
• Serving on several committees in the American College of Surgeons and on the NY State ACS Board (since 2014)
• Training in yoga therapy
