Shynequa Tiang Elam

I am an office assistant at Food Lion. I began working with the company while in high school and have been there 5 years. I started off as a cashier and was promoted to office assistant about a year ago. This position along with my passion for talking to others, helped me discover my desire to connect with the customer and create a great customer experience.

Developing my hobbies of hairstyling, makeup application and my new found desire to connect with others I decided a career in business would be a great opportunity. Makeup and hair has always been one of my deep passions but it became my official career path once I graduated high school and received my cosmetology license.

Practicing styling under the structure of other stylists has shown me that I desire to be my own boss. I attend Francis Marion University studying Business Management so that one day I can have the skills and education to begin my business and watch it grow into a successful company.

When I am not busy with work or school I spend most of my time:

• Practicing hairstyles
• Practicing makeup application
• Shopping
• Traveling
• Hanging out with friends and family

I’m just a typical girl on a journey to reach success and trying to enjoy every bit of the road there. Live for the moment and dwell in life’s possibilities.
