Sibel Erduran

Sibel Erduran is Professor of STEM Education at University of Limerick, Ireland where she is the Director of EPI•STEM, The National Centre for STEM Education. She is an Editor for International Journal of Science Education and Section Editor for Science Education. She serves on Royal Irish Academy Social Sciences Committee and ESERA Executive Board and acted as Director to IHPST Council, and as the NARST International Coordinator. She has held Visiting Professorships at Kristianstad University, Sweden and Bogazici University, Turkey. She has worked at University of Bristol and King’s College London, United Kingdom. She has received Best Paper Award from NARST and funding from Science Foundation Ireland, Fulbright Program, Marie Curie/TUBITAK scheme, ESRC, TDA, Nuffield and Gatsby Foundations among others. Her research interests focus on the applications in science education of interdisciplinary perspectives on science, particularly the epistemic practices of science. She has a recent book entitled Reconceptualizing the Nature of Science for Science Education: Scientific Knowledge, Practices and Other Family Categories published by Springer (Erduran & Dagher, 2014).
