Aspiring Product Manager in Seattle, WA

Live, learn, master!

Always ready to try something new, I believe in searching for and accepting challenges, facing fears and never giving-up. This, I believe is the foundation of growth. Moreover, I am passionate about improving lives of people and making an impact through my actions. With this ideology, I chose wireless engineering as my profession and got interested in community services.

When I was laid off from TeleWorld, I had an opportunity to re-evaluate my career trajectory. I realized that, while I enjoyed technical challenges and analytical thinking of engineering, I missed direct human contact. That’s when I got interested in MBA curricula and reached out to several individuals who had earned their MBA. After speaking with them, I became particularly interested in a career in product management. I recognized how product managers use their creative thinking and problem-solving skills to propel development of a product/service. Armed with this knowledge and new found passion, I took a job as a Customer Engineer at ViaSat.

Along with re-evaluating my career trajectory, I aspired to improve my professional skillset. I took on the challenge of learning programming and started off with Python. Having no prior programming background, I overcame the obstacles that come with learning programming. I graduated from Nanodegree in front-end web development by Udacity. I believe anything can be learnt given dedication to teach oneself, and that’s what has helped me in learning these skills.

On the extra-curricular side, I have more than 5 years of experience running Junoon, meaning passion in Hindi. I led a group of about 70 social-do-gooders to tackle a variety of projects. One particularly memorable achievement had us engaging the media to get the government to provide electricity and other basic supplies to a government run school. Moreover, I have continued my community service endeavors after moving to the US by volunteering for organizations such as Kids for Peace and Iskcon of Richmond.

Apart from this, I have a number of interests, among which traveling and photography are the most important. Through photography, I have learned the importance of resilience as I wait for the perfect opportunity to capture nature. I also learned the importance of creativity and flexibility - just moving a few steps away may completely change the perspective and offer a beautiful view.
