Sidney Guiang

Sidney's path to the classroom wasn't conventional, and neither is his approach to teaching.

A qualified Electronic and Communication Engineer with a background in construction safety, he made a deliberate shift into education driven by a genuine passion for working with young learners. He now teaches secondary mathematics at an international school in Dubai, specialising in intervention and supporting students who have historically found math difficult. He leads with connection first, taking time to understand each student before diving into the content. His students often describe him as the teacher who never gave up on them, and he considers that the highest compliment.

Pursuing a Master of Education has sharpened his practice in meaningful ways, equipping him with evidence-based strategies, differentiated instructional approaches, and structured scaffolding techniques that he applies directly in the classroom. He works closely with parents, school leaders, and fellow educators, believing that lasting progress for a student rarely happens in isolation.

Outside the classroom, music is where Sidney truly comes alive. A multi-instrumentalist and passionate music educator, he teaches a range of instruments and has a gift for making music accessible to people of all ages and skill levels. He leads a choir, bringing together voices from different backgrounds and shaping them into something unified and powerful. For Sidney, music is more than a hobby. It is a second calling, one that demands the same dedication, ear for detail, and belief in human potential that defines everything he does. Whether he is guiding a student through a difficult math problem or leading a choir through a challenging piece, the approach is always the same: show up fully, bring others along, and never settle for less than what someone is capable of.
