I am excited about having the opportunity to represent you at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte this year. After being afforded the same amazing opportunity in 2008, I prepared for the convention by hosting a "Listening to America" session, where my husband and I opened our home to people in our community, discussed issues that were important to us, and submitted our suggestions to the Democratic Party Platform Committee. We were proud to see our meeting in the list of contributors for the final 2008 Democratic National Platform that was presented in Denver. That's what I think being a delegate is all about, and it is what I endeavor to do again: to continue to move our party forward and to engage those that share our ideals and commitment to creating a better tomorrow. All of our Democratic candidates need our help, and it is my hope the convention will inspire people to become (and remain) involved on every level. Whether or not I'm chosen to represent you in this capacity, I'll do my part to see this happen.
