" Some people feel the rain, others just get wet" - Roger Miller

My work and passion is to help social service staff, volunteers, activists, other professionals feel the rain; for them to connect to their purpose, their compassion, and their community. For this, I myself needed to learn. So this is now what I practice, and practice, and practice.

I am a recovering “Save the World” activist. I worked for 40 years for the United Nations and humanitarian organizations abroad and in New Mexico. Like many other idealistic activists, I was convinced that I was indispensable. The fear was that if I stopped, what happens then? I didn’t slow down enough to feel the rain. And that’s where real change begins.

So now I have a different understanding of “saving the world.” Self care is important for refilling the tank and keeping me at my best. When I feel the rain, I am more aware of the ways that the dysfunctional systems speak through me, more aware of the role I play in keeping the world unjust.

Taking on the world and getting soaked instead of feeling the rain was heavy work. I am ready to lighten up and be a playful spirit while being a daily actor on the world stage for the humanitarian point of view in all matters.

Today, I am a mindfulness based trainer, facilitator and leader of social transformation movement towards awareness. Moreover, as a community broker, I facilitate opportunities for networking in a meaningful way, for people to see the nuances that might not be so obvious and to get excited about working together.

My workshops and trainings are tailor made. Literally and metaphorically speaking, I love to open the fridge and make a meal with what is available. There is always enough when you truly see what is there.
