Sienna Martz is a soft sculptor, fiber artist, and wearable art designer currently living in Philadelphia, PA. Her work attempts to examine man’s intrusion on biological structures, plasticity, and morphology through wearable sculptures and installations.
Her work is built upon time intensive processes to form an interaction between the body and non-native materials, the invasion of a space, material, and the human body.
Using the development of traditional fiber techniques in a contemporary method, the interaction between materials becomes an essential element in the concepts of her work. While giving herself only a certain amount of control over the manipulation, she lets the material’s natural reaction of the process take place. Also letting the object, wearable, or installation react and change in response to it’s immediate environment, history, and movement of the body.
