Eyes, people say they are the windows to the soul. When I look in the mirror, what will I see? Maybe I will see a girl who was a dancer, or a cheerleader? Maybe I will see a flower ready to bloom in the spring, with a new life at her fingertips. Spring will come with the blooming of a desert flower. Although the drought has been long and the winter has been hard, she still blooms. She isn’t the most beautiful or the most radiant flower, but she is the strongest. Winds come and the sand pelts her dry petals, but she still stands. She stands with life and love ready to give, but still dreads the next storm. So she stands strong and proud, invincible, but unable to be vulnerable. She won't let the wind touch her heart or the sand sting her eyes. She is strong, there are no tears for the dessert flower. The people who see her strength envy it. The only way you will see her struggle is if you look into her eyes, because they are her windows to her soul.
