Sierra Koch
Evansville Indiana
It was a psychic development class in October 2012 that started Sierra on her path to reiki. That October she went to her first Reiki share, fell in love, and never looked back. Reiki has helped her grow in many ways and she loves sharing it with as many people as possible. She delights in helping others on their reiki paths through her website reikiplayground.com. Sierra completed Reiki 1&2 certifications in early 2013, then again fall of 2013 (for fun). Reiki 3 certification was completed in April 2014. Slowly, but surely she is making her way to Reiki Master Teacher.
Crystals have been in Sierra’s life much longer than reiki. She bought her first clear quartz at a psychic fair when she was 12. From then on she collected crystals of all different types. Not knowing what to “do” with them she kept them in a box in her room. It wasn’t until a couple of years later that she discovered crystal healing and started using them in such a way, mostly on herself, sometimes with plants. It was much later that she started using them on others, then incorporating them with Reiki. Over the years Sierra has taken countless crystal workshops, classes, and programs. In May 2014 she became a certified crystal healer (CCH).
Sierra’s approach to reiki is unique because she allows it to be fun. While she does not force reiki to happen in any way (reiki knows what to do!) she does like to play with it as it flows (hence the name Reiki Playground). Visualizing colors as reiki flows through you allows her to access your chakras and energies in a uniquely different way than other reiki practitioners. She uses crystals to surround you in natural earth energy to blend with and boost reiki energy. Sierra allows intuition to be her guide in all her sessions, much like how Usui originally taught reiki, instead of using set hand positions.
For Sierra, reiki is not just a spiritual path or just a healing modality. It is in every sense a lifestyle. Eating, breathing, drinking, playing, working, living reiki is her passion and she strives to live by the 5 reiki principles. Just for today…don’t get angry, don’t worry, be kind, be honest, be grateful. She believes that reiki practitioners should first give themselves reiki before they can truly offer it to others, and she loves practicing every day. Sierra acknowledges that the history of reiki is important and continually researches reiki as it was originally taught plus the changes that have happened through the
