Legend has it that Padmasambhava, the great Buddhist guru regarded Sikkim as one of the last utopias on earth. Debatably one of the most beautiful tourist destinations in India, this little Himalayan kingdom is a haven for travelers and nature lovers. From North Sikkim's plummeting mountain valleys and emerald alpine forests to West Sikkim's pretty mélange of terraced paddy fields and flowering rhododendrons, there's bounty to feast your eyes on here – not least of which are spectacular views of Khangchendzonga, the world's third-highest mountain (8598m), visible from almost anywhere in Sikkim.
