Katherine Silva

Baton Rouge, Louisiana

I'm currently a student at Louisiana State University where I am majoring in Mass Communication with a focus in Broadcast Journalism and minoring in Theatre and Political Science.

I've found a passion for telling stories through my experience in both the film and television industry. Most recently, I've served as the Production Intern for WBRZ Channel 2 in Baton Rouge. I've had a hand in creating marketing and client content from green light to post production, learning how to problem solve and meet artistic needs while prioritizing technical and creative integrity.

I'm the past, I've worked as the intern with Lumehouse, a video production and cinematography company in Baton Rouge. With Lumehouse, I learned how to create cinematic magic utilizing DSLR camera. Along with production, my intern duties included their social media management. I learned about audience appeal and distribution and how they relate to the media industry. I showcased my strengths of coordinating, planning and leadership through my job as the Producer for The Ramen: The Soup for College Students, a weekly clip comedy show.

My time in the Disney College Program taught me not only how to find my inner creative spirit, but also how to represent at major brand, while identifying and fixing problems in an everyday sphere.

While at LSU, I serve as an LSU Ambassador, employing and learning about customer service and communication. I'm a proud sister of Zeta Tau Alpha, learning what it means to work with a diverse group of people.

I want to tell the world stories. I strongly believe every person has a purpose and internal beauty, and I want my work to show it. My dream is to one day work for an entertainment news company, to own my own production studio, or maybe both!
