Simon Li is the current Executive Director at the Hong Kong Holocaust and Tolerance Centre. Besides public education, his work particularly focuses on strategic planning, outreach, and educational technology. A fellow of Yad Vashem's China Program in Jerusalem, he conducts research on Holocaust and tolerance education in Asia, and gives lectures on the difficult and complex topics of the Holocaust, genocides and tolerance education at colleges and universities. He leads students to Cambodia and Nanjing, among other killing fields, to study genocide and its effects. A veteran educator with a passion for quality history teaching and human rights education, his educational work also focuses on Rwanda and Bosnia.
An Asia-based educator of the Anne Frank House, Simon has strived to teach tolerance and mutual respect through the inspiring story of Anne Frank. In 2018, he was a Visiting Lecturer in Tolerance Education at the Taipei Women's Rescue Foundation as well as a number of major Taiwanese universities. During his career as a peace educator, Simon has lectured to over 10,000 students and educators across China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Cambodia, Myanmar, and Israel. He continues to work directly with survivors of genocides to ensure their experiences are not forgotten. With an immense interest in the role of music in politics, Simon has degrees in the 20th-century history from Queen’s University, Canada.
