Simon Bucknell

I am a 40 year old father to four. Isla, Tommy, Edie, Arthur. I am married to Caroline who I met on New Year Eve in 1998. I was smoking a cigar, drinking champagne and dancing to James Brown when we first spoke five minutes before midnight. I am co-founder of EMBS a business services consultancy and co-creator of People Transfer a unique recruitment services business based in Derby. I love that business and the technology that drives it is constantly changing, giving me another creative outlet. I love social media, enjoy photography and use Instagram actively. I also love finding out what's going on in the places that interest me using Twitter. Music is a passion, always has been always will be. My father was a music teacher, mother was teacher so music and performance is in my blood. I started playing the cornet aged 8 but moved to trumpet when I discovered Miles Davis and Jazz while searching for the sampled beats that were the predominant component of Hip Hop music which I still love. However I find that Funk fuses both Jazz and Hip Hop together which is why this is my favourite music to see live. Favourite venue - Jazz Cafe, Camden although I love Ronnie Scotts. Never listened to so much music thanks to Spotify and BBC 6 Music. The Craig Charles Funk and Soul Show is also the best radio programme on the planet. Hopes for the future - healthy, happy offspring, lots of time to enjoy life with Caroline, opportunity to see the world and a successful business that keeps me in chips for many years to come.
